ITINERARY
FRIDAY EVE (5th Sep)
Auchencairn Link Park, 6-9pm
Informal hangout / landing / ‘integration’ (weather-dependent). Drop in whenever you can, we will make a big pot of food and get a few beers in.
SATURDAY (6th Sep)
Wedding day!
Dress code: formal but with sensible shoes as the ground is uneven and maybe muddy.
Buittle Castle
2pm – arrival, welcome drinks and snacks
Feel free to explore the gardens & grounds of the castle (there is a nice walk by the nearby Urr Water and various sites of historical interest), mix, mingle, etc.
2.30pm – the ceremony
This is the part when we get married. We will be joined for it by early music ensemble The Galloway Consort.
3.15pm – drinks reception
Confetti throwing, prosecco consumption, photographs, eating raspberries, crying in each other's arms, etc.
5.30 – making a move
Guests self-transport to Auchencairn Village Hall which is a short 15 minute drive away. This will be either in personal cars, or you may wish to arrange a taxi. We're happy to help co-ordinate lifts.
Auchencairn Village Hall
We will provide red and white wine for dinner but beyond that the whole event is BYOB. You are welcome to bring any drinks you may like to the hall.
6pm – dinner
We'll be eating curry from a legendary local curry house. There are five different curries, mostly veggie but some meat, as well as homemade salads. There will be speeches and Polish cakes.
9pm - late - PARTY TIME !
The floor will be (un)ceremoniously cleared and the revels will begin. Excited to announce we have an EXCLUSIVE live set from BRUNNERA, as well as other DJ pals who will see us through to the wee small hours (which we anticipate being around 1am but of course this is flexible depending on how things go).
1am - taxis
If you are planning on drinking, for the end of the night we would recommend booking a taxi well in advance and leaving your car in Auchencairn, as rural taxis generally need to be pre-booked.
Hendo’s Taxi (Dalbeattie) - 07752 728558
Alfie's Taxis (Castle Douglas) - 07583841829

SUNDAY (7th Sep)
In Polish wedding custom, day 2 of the wedding is known as poprawiny, which means 'the corrections'. Normally this means a lot more drinking and purposefully burnt cake (for charcoal detox) but we plan to do it a bit differently. The plan is to have a BBQ by the sea, with a portable horse-box sauna available for guests to sweat out the booze, swim, recover and chill. This will take place at Balcary Bay, from around 12pm-4pm. High tide is at 12:21pm so get there early if you want to swim!
The Balcary Bay Hotel will let us use their BBQ facilities and we suggest that everyone brings something to grill. The Hotel also has toilet facilities and you can also purchase drinks there. They will also give us a 10% discount on any food bought from them.

ARRIVAL
For those camping, Auchencairn Community Field is well-placed for all wedding festivities. It's just outside the village and the person in the village shop (usually open 8am until 6pm but closed Sunday) can point you in the right direction. The Community Field is not a campsite and does not have camping facilities. There are public toilets 15-minute walk away.

GIFTS
Instead of a traditional wedding registry we're embracing the wonderfully no-nonsense Polish tradition of cash in envelopes. If you’d like to contribute, there will be a secure box at the reception dinner where you can drop your envelope.
Of course, the biggest gift to us is your presence, and we understand that travel and accommodation for a wedding are already significant commitments. We appreciate not everyone is in the position to offer a gift beyond that. But if you do wish to give something extra, we would gratefully accept it. It will help us recover from wedding expenses and settle into our new home.

THE GREAT ESPOUSING 2K25
In a gender neutral take on the tradition of marriage, we (Max - (he/him) and Romy - (they/them) will be known as the marrying couple (Spouse/Spouses). Can't wait for you to join us for our espousing!
